Habitation of Hope started in August 2003 with Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye providing Home, shelter, food, Healthcare, Education and Vocational training for the street children of Lagos popularly known as Area boys and girls. Habitation of hope Charity was established to give hope and transform destinies of lost, abandoned, deprived and destitute children roaming the street of states in the SW and SE areas of Nigeria especially in Lagos and Ogun and help them to become what God has plan for them to become.
We work in Africa, Nigeria to be precise for intense change that eliminates the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of culture, faith or gender. We provide urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes. We are a partnership of people, churches and local organisations committed to ending poverty worldwide especially in Africa. We believe in the power of education to help end poverty. We work to give children the education they need and fight the inequalities that stand in their way. .
No Child was born to be a destitute, a prostitute or even a criminal or drug addict. It is society that makes them what they become. In Lagos alone there are over 100,000 boys and girls living in the streets (referred to as street children but popularly known as area boys and girls ), under very harsh condition, they live virtually in slums and market places
